As you know, I went on a trip to Boston with my Homeschool group for 3 days. Well, actually to Plymouth and Boston. The first day was the driving day. We went up to Plymouth, which took 10 hours to drive!!!! Then we went on a long and tiring walking tour of Plymouth. The second day was actually the longest, because we left Plymouth and went to Boston!! I was sort of in a daze, because I didn't know that Boston was a modern day city. I pretty much pictured a preserved town like Williamsburg. (Which the Homeschool group teens went to last year with the same touring company. That was FUN too!!!) So we would be walking along, right next to skyscrapers, and in the middle of the road would be a tree with a plaque that talked about a hero in the Revolution. While in Boston, we went to a church where we did a debate. We were handed out pieces of paper the day before to read up front in a church. Thankfully, no memorization was needed!!! We had 35 people on the tour, (20 students grade 7 to 12, and 15 adults grade parent to almost grandparent) and each person got one. All the characters on the cards were all male. Anyway, the debate was Patriots versus Loyalists, so of course, I was a Loyalist. My name was Sampson Blower, and I was a lawyer. I don't like acting, but reading something is fine with me! Especially a lawyer!!! : ) So whenever I went to hotels, I would ask for tea. (One of my favorite beverages) I figured that, as I loyalist, it would be perfectly okay! : ) Then at night, the group went up a skyscraper that had 52 floors. I stayed downstairs at the mall with one of the moms. It was the Prudential Center, which is really tall. And I don't really like heights. Or at least, skyscrapers. My friends took great pictures!!!! We got to sleep at the Hyatt in Boston. OHHHHHH! I LOVE it there!!! The glass elevators are the BEST!!!! The third day (and final day) was really packed with stuff to see and do. On all the days, we pretty much got up around 6:00, about an hour earlier than we were supposed to. Because, the girls I was rooming with insisted that we needed an hour and a half to get ready and pack......
I am soooo excited! Well, for three reasons. I finally finished my paper for my online class! It was about Aeneas, from the Aeneid by Virgil. I had to write from his point of view (aka his brain) during the battle of Troy. Which was kind of hard because I'm not 1. a man
By the way, if you melt crayons like I did, remember to use a container that you can throw away, definitely NOT your mom's favorite glass measuring cup.... : (
Right now my friend Karlene is visiting from Springfield, PA where she lives. Springfield is near Philadelphia. (She insists that I tell you this little fact.) We had fun dyeing Easter eggs. The first time we tried melting Crayons. It's really cool to put on your hands, because it's thicker than wax, so it stays on longer! Just an interesting fact to all those out there who like dipping their fingers in hot candle wax. Gotta go!
Today my friend and I went to the library. Yes, I know, the place I can't live without, or so my friends say. There's a nice park right next to the library, one where the Homeschool group I belong to goes to play (or talk as the teens like to do) every week. Well, I was the only one there because it was windy, cloudy, and rainy (my friend decided to hide out in the library; I don't blame her). Of course, rainy, cloudy, and windy is my favorite kind of day, so I had fun being there my myself. But, sometimes, I feel really out-of-touch with God. Life get's so busy, that sometimes it's even hard to just have a quiet talk-to-God time. So, while I was sitting on a swing in the rain, I decided to have a chat. It was AMAZING!! I could see green grass, and birds were constantly chirping! I know to some people that's not considered amazing, but it's honest-to-goodness, breathing life. And very complex. It was like my Father was saying that he loved me, and that life is a gift from Him! So, even if you have a busy schedule, of if you're mad at God thinking your life is messed up, just go outside and think of all He's done for you. All He's created. Maybe you prefer sunny days, or sunsets, or nighttime, but try to find a place to just be quiet, and listen to your Father. I know you won't be disappointed.
