Isn't it weird that Christmas day is only a week away? We get so excited about all the gifts under the tree, but somehow we seem to forget the reason WHY we celebrate. I tell myself this every year, "I REFUSE to become one of those millions of people who completely forget Jesus' birth, and what we celebrate on Christmas day." And then I always feel guilty when I wake up on Christmas day bouncing up and down because of PRESENTS. I even write a schedule for Christmas: 9:00- wake up. 9:05- go to the bathroom...... And I give it to every family member! Now, it IS human to want to get gifts, so we can all understand the excitement of tearing the wrapping paper to shreds, to reveal a beautiful book. (That's what I get excited about. You could be different.) Now, I really don't expect us to calmly get out of bed, walk calmly to the tree, veer left, sit down on a chair, and meditate. But, before we open presents, is it so hard to sit down as a family, and read the story of Jesus' Birth? Is it so hard to pray BEFORE we come into the room squealing, and thank God for sending His Son? Because, really, that's the reason we have salvation. That's the reason, we can live life with hope for tomorrow.
I am SO happy! The house is completely clean and orderly and dust-free, (one of my favorite things!) and the house is all decorared with Christmas decorations! In a couple days, my family is getting a Christmas tree, and some of our friends will be coming with us! They're really fun, and my mom and I know nothing about sawing down a tree.... That would be scary if we had to...
Anyway, I'll be also doing a Christmas party with my homeschool group! And my youth group, and going to an ice festival, etc. Christmas is SO busy! I have a paragraph that I wrote for my Comp. class on my writing page. I was supposed to write from the point of view of an object. Sorry if it sounds too weird or fanciful.... Because, we all know that pianos don't talk! Or do they? :o) I'm going to my relatives to celebrate Thanksgiving, so I'm sorry if I won't be able post anything in the next couple days. We usually have a HUGE family get-together, including all the relatives we only see maybe twice a year. So there will be lots of activity and noise! It'll be nice to see my cousins again! : ) There will be the adult guys drooling in fromt of the TV watching sports, the little kids looking adorable, and me and my two girl cousins (all my closest cousins that are girls have names that all start with 'k' sounds! Isn't that odd?) will be laughing about many different things. Later this week, my mom and I will be getting the decorations down from the Attic of Terror, so we can decorate the soon-to-be-bought Christmas tree! Last year, we had an 8 ft. tree, which was huge, but fit perfectly into the top arch of the big cathedral window in the front of our house! I love Christmas time! The Christmas carols, snow outside, hot chocolate, reading the Bible stories about the birth of Jesus...it all seems so special. What makes Christmas special for you?
